Commercial losses of aggression – a threat to reconstruction

During the year of aggression, the state has already developed mechanisms for fixing losses and calculating damages, as well as for compensation for damaged housing. However, despite the fact the future international register of losses is already taking on general outlines, we have to state that there is still no effective mechanism for compensating businesses for their losses.

Experts estimate that the total amount of direct losses incurred by companies in 2022 is estimated at $13 billion, and the amount required to restore the enterprises is $24.9 billion. Construction companies also suffered losses of expensive machinery and equipment, road equipment and facilities, as well as production bases.

Under these conditions, the reconstruction is at risk because the contractors are deprived of production facilities and the ability to restore them.

The Ukrainian Infrastructure Association sent a letter to the authorities about the importance of the problem.
